The tins include a EX pokemon and 4 pokemon packs and are good way to get packs and extremely good pokemon that are used competitively. After that, Elite Trainer Boxes and tins are good ways to build your collection. Both decks have good Trainers, but Yveltal has better ones.
Xerneas gives you a bunch of good Fairy cards, while Yveltal gives you. The starter decks kind of suck as the pokemon included arent useful. If not that, either the Xerneas or Yveltal theme decks are pretty good. The primary constructed formats that are played at tournaments are Standard (formerly Modified), Expanded, and Unlimited. XY Theme decks are a good start too as they have some staples of the set and some decent pokemon included as well. If you are playing casually you can mix any cards you want to as long as you have exactly 60 cards in your deck and no more than 4 of a given card (other than basic energy).įor tournaments there are a couple different formats that determine what is legal.
